Each year, nearly 290 families endure the heartbreaking loss of a military parent who gave their life in service to our country.
While several organizations provide financial support—paying off mortgages, building homes, or offering other forms of assistance—emotional healing, especially for the children left behind, is often overlooked.
At Healing Paws Project, a Rhode Island-based nonprofit, our mission is to bring comfort to these grieving children by offering them the companionship of a loving pet.
No pet can ever replace a parent—but they can offer unconditional love, friendship, and a sense of belonging. They become more than just pets; they become family.

At Healing Paws Project, we recognize the profound challenges military families face after the loss of a loved one.
Our mission is to offer comfort and emotional support by connecting these families—especially the children—with loving companion animals.
While we primarily provide pedigree pets, families may choose to welcome a rescued pet instead. We believe that whether pedigree or rescued, every pet has the power to bring healing, hope, and heart back into a home.
